She's cool. Nice background. Don't whine.
There is something off with the support-leg/hips rotation: she's standing on her left leg, so this side of her hips should be the high one. The way her hips are right now suggests that she is standing on her right leg. Another minor anatomy thing could be the short left upperarm (elbow = hipbone height) in combination with rather big hand/glove.
About the colouring: I don't know if you choose this cool colour scheme on purpose: it works great with the 'cool' winter atmosphere on the right side (main light source is from the snow and not-so-bright-sky/sun) but maybe the left side light sourse of the flames could be much more dramatic/bright. Then you get the real 'flame' effect with much more darker shadows on her left side.
Also she now kinda disappears in the background, because it's the same colours. If you want to go for 'realistic' style (no noticable outlines) you shouldn't make her extend the background like this (the details up and down in the border) This way you make the top and bottom 'pop out' but the middle part 'blend in'' the background
example with an thicker black outline, more itense flame light-source and a darker blue-ish shadow that's the same colour everywhere nomatter the underlying colour or material. The belt for example has a blue shadow aswell. [link]
I'm quite aware. I colored her before I started working on the background, which obviously leads to a character not fitting into it's surroundings, especially when you start adding obvious secondary lightsources to it.
The extending outside the background thing was indeed to make her pop out a bit more. She wasn't really part of the background anyway, so why not rip her clean from her frame completely.
I have problems keeping the big picture in mind, as I've stated before.. not sure how this weakness should be remedied.
Oh well, didn't work out.. not sure if I should redo parts, or just move on. What do you think?
Thanks for the detailed crits either way, they're appreciated. You even made an example pic, such a nice gesture. :0
Honestly, I really like this over all. I think it looks lovely, colors are great...
I agree about something in the face seeming a touch off somehow, but I am unable to pinpoint any one thing to leave a helpful comment. I do stil like this though.
i think her body looks a bit more stiff then those of your usual drawings.. I think it the lack of folds and texture in the coat : ) and the way she stands. since. y'know. I wouldn't be posing if something that heavy was leaning on me. loli's =/= strong
i like how you did the boots though <3
